Buying a home is an exciting next step, and we want to make your home search as successful and stress-free as possible.

Use these tips below to help prepare you in your home search.

Getting Started in Your Home Search

1. Get Preapproved by a Lender

Call your bank or a local mortgage company for a mortgage preapproval.  This gives you a working estimate of how much a bank will lend you, which will help you determine what price range you can afford.  Preapprovals are also required when submitting offers, so getting one early will prepare you for when you want to make an offer on a house.

2. Talk to a Real Estate Agent

Talking to a real estate agent will bring you up to date on current market information for homes in the price point and location you’re looking in, and they’ll be able to get you started in your home search, and give you strategies when making an offer on a house.

3. Start Your Home Search

Work with your real estate agent to start looking at homes for sale online and through in-person appointments, and this will help inform you of the market until you find the perfect home that suits your needs.
